M1 is probably one of the most legendary cars in the M class of the German manufacturer. Only 450 were made in the period of three years from 1978 to 1981 which makes it very rare mid-engined BMW supercar… a setup that was incorporated only in the new BMW i8.
Back in 1978 when the first BMW M1 was made the 3.5-liter 6-cylinder engine generated over 270 horsepower which was amazing for the time.
With the performance and the scarcity, it’s perfectly normal this legendary car to be expensive. Some dealers sell this BMW M1 supercar for as much as $650.000 but no one wants to sell them, they are very rare. Because of it this barn-find is even more valuable and a miraculous discovery.
This particular BMW M1 has been collecting dust for over 30 years somewhere in southern Italy and it even has the original tires manufactured in 1980. But that’s not all! The car has only 4593 miles on the clock… why somebody would just abandon and forget this piece of art!
So… the car is almost “brand new” and it probably won’t be too difficult to clean up in the hands of an expert detailing specialist.
