Let`s face it, a Dodge Charger Daytona was never a popular car, but apparently when you find one today its worth thousands of dollars.
This Charger is going to the Mecum Auctions event in Kissimmee, Florida with a price tag between $150-$180k.
Why so expensive? Here`s the deal: This model was built for a year and only 506 were produced in 1969 and this one has all the matching numbers. Under the hood is the well-known Dodge 440 Magnum V-8, strapped to a three-speed TorqueFlite automatic. The car is also equipped with special features like a factory-chromed floor, the shifter is in the center console, it has a headrest-equipped bucket seats and a dash cluster with clock/tach assembly. The only down side is the color since the paint has been changed. From the factory the Daytona had a cherry red color with white racing stripes.
Apparently the car had only two owners, bought by a judge in Alabama and sold in 1974 to the second owner who had it until now. What`s even more amazing its odometer has only 20.533 miles on it.
It will sell on Mecum’s Kissimmee auction next month.
